The McMillen family has attended Hillcrest Church since 1995 when Jamie came to Western. Jamie and her husband BJ will have been married for 15 years this June! They have three children, Macie (12), Trevek (8), and Tate (4) (who are all pretty great in my opinion). She is a full time mom and a part-time elementary teacher at Everson Elementary school where she has the privilege to work with some of the neatest kids and staff.
While at Hillcrest, most of her ministry areas have been involved in different children’s ministry positions. She joke that she worked her way up from being a nursery attendant, preschool team lead to serving as one of our children’s directors for 5 years. Since “retiring” from her position as the Treasureland Children’s Director for the 1st-5th grade she has been leading in the Kingdom Builders group, most recently as the 2nd and 3rd grade “31 Girls” leader, a ministry to young ladies and their mamas.
In addition to being involved in Treasureland since the start of her Hillcrest beginnings, she have also been a part of Royal Family Kids. Jamie currently serves on the leadership team, am the curriculum coordinator for camp, and serve the children as the camp “Auntie”. This summer Jamie will celebrate her 20th year at camp. For over 10 years she was also a small group leader and part of the small group leadership team for the various small groups she has been a part of.
Jamie feels that our church is experiencing a special time as we seek God to direct us in this new season. She has walked with our Hillcrest Family though some difficult days, rejoiced in some amazing blessings, and have done the day in and day out of walking with Jesus and making Him look good to others. Serving on the council was not something Jamie was seeking out or desiring but am honored and humbled to be a part of. Jamie feels that she can bring a unique perspective to the council with her deep involvement in Treasureland, Royal Family, being a part of the Hillcrest community for over 20 years, as well as her past experience on staff. Jamie am excited to see all that God has in store for Hillcrest as we seek to Love God, Grow People, and Care for the World in this season.
