Reflecting God’s Character

Reflecting God’s Character

We start with the internal drumbeat of Deuteronomy – “Remember”. The book continually refers to the idea of remembering who God is and what he does to then inform who God’s people are and what they do. The action always flows out of character. But the complicated question can be “How?” – how is this practical and how do the people do this successfully? While Deuteronomy has a lot to say on this matter, we will focus on the most central part of storytelling…The Chosen Place (God’s Presence). The people are told to continually retell the story of who God is and what he has done. They build pilgrimages around this very aspect, but they always return to their homes / cities to embody a practical version of who God is in their midst in normal daily life.
